Annapurna Base Camp Trek Nepal

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek As know as Annapurna Base Camp Trek lies on the amazing route which goes through the Modi Khola Valley and reaches up to the Annapurna South base camp. The base camp is formed in the form of a natural bowl that has come to existence due to the formation of a ring by the eight 7000+ Himalayan peaks. In this 15 days trekking to Nepal progresses it goes through a variety of landscapes as the altitude increase till the trek reaches the Himalayan glaciers at the sanctuary.

The Annapurna Region in central Nepal is the most culturally and geographically diverse region for going to trek. The area boasts about having a broad variety of diverse castes and tribes which include the Chettris, Brahmins, the Tibetans, Manangis, the Magars, the Gurungs etc. This area also has valleys, sub-tropical lowlands, rhododendron and oak, bamboo forests, windswept desert plateaus and the high Annapurna Mountains. The world’s deepest river gorge formed by the Kali Gandaki also lies in this region below the Annapurna I. The Annapurna base camp is the motherland of 440 species of animals and birds like langur, deer, marten and the amazing snow leopard.

Highlights of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Sightseeing is arranged with the guides to places like Boudhanath stupa, Swaymbhunath stupa, Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The beautiful Annapurna region is the main attraction of the trekking to Nepal trip. The Chhetri , Brahmin and the Gurung settlements are the main attractions of the trek program. The hills of the Annapurna I, II, III, and IV are the places where the trek is arranged. The Bird’s eye view from the Kali Gandaki is the best feature of the trek program. All the lunch and dinners every day is arranged in Kathmandu. Near about 5-6 hours time is allotted for the Annapurna base camp trek.

Day 1

Arrival

Arrival and warm welcome to our guests and transfer to hotel by private car/van/coach. After check into your hotel, briefing on the trip.
Day 2

Kathmandu – Pokhara B

After breakfast, we will drive you to Pokhara, the second largest and the most beautiful city in Nepal. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. In the evening, boating at Fewa lake for 1 hour.

During boating, you have a chance to see the beautiful Himalayan panorama, especially (Fishtail) Machhapuchare, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri Himal. Walk back or drive back to the hotel with lots of shopping in Lake Side area.

Day 3

Pokhara – Naya Pul (New Bridge) – Tirkhe Dhunga (1495 M) 3 – 4 hrs B/L/D

After breakfast drive to Nayapul then commence our trek to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the Modi River. Head up the main trail to Sudami where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hille (1495m) before pushing on to Tirkhe Dhunga. From here the trail crosses a stream and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village at Ulleri (2070m)
Day 4

Tirkhedhunga – Ghorepani (2850 M) 5 – 6 hrs B/L/D

Today will be a pleasant walking day. We will trek through rhododendron and oak forests and across streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti. From Nangethanti we head up to Ghorepani (2850m)
Day 5

Ghorepani-Poon Hill – Tadapani (2520 M) 5 – 6 hrs B/L/D

An early start and an hour hiking to Poon Hill (3195m) leads us to a brilliant spectacle, this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about 45 minutes on the hillside, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start walking to Tadapani. From Ghorepani, the trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). We descend to reach Banthanti, before winding our way to Tadapani (2540m).
Day 6

Tadapani – Sinuwa (2310 M) 6 – 7 hrs B/L/D

Dropping down from Tadapani Gurjung the route offers good views of the upper Modi valley. The path then starts the long ascent high above the west bank of the Modi Khola. We pass the village of Chhomrong which lies tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli. From Chhomrong the trail descends until Chhomrong Khola then trail begins a slow climb as we head up to our destination for the day.
Day 7

Sinuwa – Deurali (3150 M) 5 – 6 hrs B/L/D

We will proceed to Kuldi Ghar about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs walking. There is a clearing in the forest a little further on, from there the route goes very steeply down a bank of rock and then levels out, running through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river. We pass by the pasture of Tomo, and then the very neck of the gorge at pantheon Barah, where there are a small trail and a shrine. The track climbs to Himalaya hotel at the campsite where we will overnight. 6 hours.
Day 8

Deurali – Annapurna Base Camp (4090 M) 4 – 5 hrs B/L/D

Today we climb on past the Machhapuchhare Base Camp (which isn’t really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted) to the Annapurna Base Camp. This area is called the Annapurna Sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains. From here it is a two-hour trek to Annapurna Base camp, which offers spectacular views.
Day 9

Annapurna Base Camp – Dovan (2600 M) 5 – 6 hrs B/L/D

After breakfast trek down to Dovan.
Day 10

Dovan – Chhomrong (2110 M) 4 – 5 hrs B/L/D

Once we have passed Khuldi Bikas where there is an experimental sheep Farm, the trail continues through rhododendron and bamboo fields.
Day 11

Chhomrong – Ghaundruk (1940 M) 5 – 6 hrs B/L/D

This is an easy and short day trekking. From Chhomrong the trail descends through forests to Gurjung Khola and then the trail ascends slightly until Kimche, we reach Ghandrunng about noon. Ghandrunng is a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal; they have their own dialect, culture, costume, and life style. Ghandrunng is one of the famous destinations of trekkers for its beautiful mountain views and easy reach from Pokhara or Kathmandu. Our early arrival means we have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office, Museum and explore the village.
Day 12

Ghaundruk -Nayapul, then drive to Pokhara 4 – hrs B/L

After reach Pokhara stay in the hotel. Free of the day.
Day 13

Pokhara-Kathmandu 6 hrs B

After breakfast drive to Kathmandu, after reach, Katmandu check in hotel. Then free in the evening. In the evening you can do shopping or rest your own. If guest wishes fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Day 14

Kathmandu B/D

After breakfast drive to Kathmandu durbar square, (UNESCO World heritage site). Kathmandu Durbar Square is the historic place that was also a politically important site until recently. The Kings of Nepal were crowned and their coronation ceremony was solemnized in this durbar square. The Durbar Square, with its old temples and palaces, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the people.

Other famous landmarks around the area are the Temple of Living Goddess Kumari, the wooden temple of Kasthamandap, Ashok Vinayak. There are also museums inside the Durbar Square Palace.

Our next destination is Patan Durbar square. (UNESCO World heritage site). Patan Durbar Square complex is perhaps the most photographed of the three durbar squares. Located in the heart of Patan city, this was once the palace of the kings of Patan. The square is a display of Newari architecture that had reached its pinnacle during the reign of Malla kings who were great builders and patrons of the arts.

At the last, we will be visiting Swoyambhunath Stupa. Swoyambhunath is believed to have been established more than 2,500 years ago. Swoyambhunath (UNESCO World heritage site). It has developed into an important center of Buddhism. Drive back to the hotel.

Then proceed for the sightseeing tour to Great Stupa of Boudhanath (UNESCO World heritage site). Boudhanath Stupa holds a great importance to the entire Buddhist around the world. The Stupa is a vast dome-shaped monument representing the Mind of the Buddha, is the primary pilgrimage destination for Tantric Buddhists of the Himalayas and a major draw for Tibetan Buddhists from all over the World. The history of the Stupa from its origin in the fifth century to the present day is also presented here for the first time.’

After breakfast rest until your flight leaves. Please be ready at the hotel lobby before 3 hours to flight and transfer to airport.
